COVID-19 UPDATE

April 15, 2020 - VA New Jersey Health Care System temporarily consolidates Community Based Outpatient Clinics

The CDC and VA are committed to reducing the spread of the flu and COVID-19. If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath – please stay home and contact your primary care provider. Tell them about how you are feeling and any recent travel you or members of your household have taken. They will be able to discuss your appointment options and answer any questions you may have.

As you are aware, to minimize any potential exposure, we are conducing active screenings for all patients, visitors and employees. Screenings are of the utmost importance and our first line of defense. Entrances to the buildings are restricted temporarily and although it may seem cumbersome to be screened every time you enter the building, please do your part to minimize the exposure. Employees who develop cough/flu-like illness are to notify their supervisor and NOT report to work but remain at home under the care of their private PCP until cleared to return to work.

East Orange
Main Entrance, Active Screening from 5:00am-12:30am. NO Visitors except in the event of Veterans on hospice or ICU. Entry is limited to one visitor at a time. Starbucks will be closing at 1pm daily, effective 3/19/20.

Lyons
Building 3, Active Screening (ONLY entrance for Circle 1). Buildings 57 and 143, Active Screening. Lyons Café (Building 3) will only be offering hot and cold “Simply to Go” products.

Community Living Center

Morristown Community Based Outpatient Clinic temporarily closed.

The VA New Jersey Health Care System has announced that the Morristown Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) will be temporarily closed, effective March 24, 2020, due to the COVID-19 and the closure of state nursing homes to any visitors or outsiders.

Morristown providers and staff have been converted to virtual care at this time and we recommend using telehealth (phone or video) for your scheduled appointments. To help us address the most urgent needs first, we ask that you use one of our online tools for routine or non-urgent concerns. You can:

  • Use Secure Messaging. You can send a secure message to your provider about any health concern or question.
  • Download VA Video Connect. Your provider may ask you to consider telehealth for an upcoming appointment. By downloading and learning about the VA Video Connect app now, you can prepare yourself.

Elizabeth Clinic - CLOSED FOR GOOD.

Triage

Over the weekend, tents will be erected at both East Orange and Lyons to assist with surge needs.

In accordance with CDC guidance and VA protocols, people known to be at risk for COVID-19 infection are immediately isolated to prevent potential spread to others.
